i believe Thought is different than Intelligence. to be “smart” or “intelligent” in our society means that you are able to recognize patterns (period). yes, a lot of work and life is pattern recognition, but arguably, not the best parts of life. the best parts are unexplainable. unpredictable. beautiful.

i haven’t read anything formal on the topic of what defines “thinking” or “intelligence”. i personally believe “intelligence” is related to “experience” or data which build prediction vectors, but i don’t believe that’s the essence of “Thought” or “Thinking”

Thinking can be influenced by “intelligence”, but they are not equivalent. Thinking is more artistic; natural, uniquely human.

i don’t believe we have enough data (that isn’t language) on many (a majority?) things in the world to replace humans’ ability to adapt

i believe language is an abstraction layer on top of Thinking; and Thinking — like feeling — is uniquely human. and until we can understand how neurons fire in the breain based on thought alone and train on that and not two^* — in the grand scheme of things, relatively poor — layers removed i think we are fine. yes, things are different — mathematics and software engineering and work at large will change tremendously or maybe go away — but i think we are far from a singularity event or a time at which it’s no longer worth living.

*those two poor layers are (written communication (and) written communication on the internet) thought > communication > written communication > written communication on the internet > written communication on the internet that is publicly available and likely in response to some heated debate somewhere on social media.
